Mustafa Ali Khan-(born in Hyderabad, India on December 20th, 1938) is award-winning children story, fiction and drama writer from Pakistan. He has received Rexroth Golden Award (Germany, 1975), Gold und Silbermedalienilen Award (Germany, 1984), Silver Jubilee Silver Medal (Pakistan, 1993), The Batty Graham Huth Award (Canada 2001), Pride of Performance (TCHC, Canada, 2003), and Gold Medal Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre (Pakistan, 2004).
Khan has worked as a Health Education Officer at MALC, Pakistan for more than 26 years. He also worked as a Research Coordinator, for a collaborative program between Great Britain and Agha Khan University & Hospital, in Pakistan.
Khan has written children stories, fictions and dramas to spread awareness about Leprosy and Tuberculosis. His children stories were distributed in various educational institutions. The titles included “Mah Jabeen Ki Zahanat”, “Kanwal Rani”, “Azadi” and “Hameed Baloch Ki Jadogari”. He also wrote two dramas which were performed by school children. Khan has written various essays and poems about the implications and importance of tuberculosis and leprosy as well breastfeeding. Other than academic contributions, he wrote television segment for one of the most famous television program “Neelam Ghar”. Khan also contributed his thoughts in early morning program on Radio Pakistan with the name of “Khabron Ka Pas Manzar” which aired daily at 6:55 a.m.
After migrating to Canada, Khan dedicated most of his time to community building. He wrote “Atkinson Housing Co-op History Timeline”. However, his biggest contribution to the Canadian society is the poetic translation of Canadian National Anthem ‘O’Canada’ in 2005. He received recognition letters from both Government of Canada and Government of Pakistan. He worked as a chair of Welcoming and Social Events Committee from 2000 to 2007. Moreover, he was a member of Ryerson Community School (TDSB), Toronto since 1995 to 2006.
Khan has completed his poetic collection (Deewan) called “Ahsaas”. Currently, he is in the midst of writing History of Qaimkhani. We want to wish him all the best as he sets an excellent example before our eyes to follow his path.
